Sudeepa Chatterjee, a host and actress from Bengal, has said that she has received several death threats following the viral success of a video in which she discussed a beef dish on a cooking show.
According to Indian media, Chatterjee, who is from Kolkata, clarified that a contestant on a Bangladeshi show prepared a beef meal.
She conversed with the participant in her role as host, and the result was a video that went viral on social media.
Chatterjee explained "I have been accused of cooking and eating beef during the show, which is completely false. I merely spoke with the person who prepared the dish."
The actress is adamant, saying "I have never cooked, eaten, or even touched beef. Those threatening me should watch the video carefully and show me where I touched the beef."
She continued "Secondly, Karim Jahan (a participant of the show) did the cooking. The videos are still unedited
Anyone can have a look. Nowhere will you see that I have even touched beef," Chatterjee said in a Facebook post.
The show was organized for Eid ul Adha, Chatterjee continued, and she was representing India on the Bangladeshi program.
"Most of the people criticising me haven’t even watched the video. I am being targeted for political gain," she remarked.
