The Sindh Home Department has imposed Section 144 throughout the province during the upcoming holy month of Muharram.
According to a notification issued by the department in this regard, there will be a ban on pillion riding of motorcycles on the 9th and 10th of Muharram.
According to the notification, the ban will be applied from 1st of Muharram to 10th of Muharram. Apart from this, the display of weapons and flying of drones will also be banned during the month.
On the other hand, the Punjab Home Department has issued stringent security guidelines ahead of Muharram, aiming to ensure peace and safety during the religious observances across the province.
Section 144 will be enforced throughout Punjab, prohibiting gatherings at unauthorized locations to prevent any potential disturbances.
According to the Punjab Home Department, a total of 37,376 majlis (religious gatherings) and 10,426 processions are scheduled to take place, each under a detailed security plan. Additionally, 502 locations across Punjab have been identified as sensitive, where Army and Rangers personnel will be deployed to maintain order and pre-empt any untoward incidents.
The department says apart from the scheduled routes and locations, gatherings and processions will not be allowed at any other place.
"In view of potential threats, the movement of 1,200 individuals will be restricted," stated the Home Department stated, emphasizing the need for strict adherence to security protocols. Peace committees must be activated in districts to oversee the implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure the peaceful conduct of assemblies and processions.
