US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller emphasized the significance of maintaining strong relations with both Pakistan and India.
During a recent press briefing, he highlighted that these relationships are crucial for the United States, stressing the importance of ongoing cooperation and dialogue.
The US supports direct dialogue between Pakistan and India, although it respects that the specific objectives of such discussions are internal matters for the two countries to determine. Miller reaffirmed that Washington encourages communication between the neighboring nations to foster regional stability.
Miller pointed out that Pakistan and the US share common interests in regional security and counter-terrorism efforts. “Pakistan and America are partners in the counter-terrorism capacity program,” he said, underscoring the collaborative nature of their relationship.
He further mentioned that the interaction between Pakistan and the US will persist through military-to-military engagements and various bilateral programs, ensuring continued cooperation and strengthening of ties.
