India has slipped four spots to 56th position in the 2023 World Talent Ranking, according to the International Institute for Management Development (IMD). But, there is no Pakistan in the list.
The IMD World Talent Ranking was first published in 2013. It ranks countries based on their ability to attract, retain, and develop talent.
The standing is based on three factors: investment and development, appeal and liveability, and readiness.
The report praises India's talent pool for its agility, tech-savviness, and readiness for the future. However, it also highlights its weak educational system and the need for further enhancement in talent competitiveness.
India fares reasonably well in future readiness, ranking 29th. However, the report ranks the country second to last (63rd) in quality of education.
This is attributed to unequal access to education, particularly in rural areas, and insufficient investment.
The report also mentions that India requires comprehensive policies, including salary increases and improvements in quality of life, safety, and environmental friendliness to retain talent domestically.
Where is Pakistan?
Pakistan is not included in the IMD World Talent Ranking 2023 or any other previous rankings due to insufficient data.
The ranking requires countries to provide data on a variety of indicators, including education, employment, and infrastructure.
Pakistan was unable to provide data for all required indicators.
