The Crime Intelligence Agency (CIA) has apprehended a prime suspect involved in the heinous murder of Itiqa - a gold medalist - in Karachi's Gulshan-e-Iqbal area.
The arrest was made in Quetta, where the suspect had reportedly fled following the tragic incident.
Sources within the CIA revealed that a specialised team from the Specialised Investigation Unit (SIU) conducted a series of raids in Quetta and Khuzdar, resulting in the successful apprehension of the accused.
The suspects, alleged to be part of a criminal network originating from Khuzdar, Balochistan, were identified through meticulous analysis of television footage and other evidence collected from the crime scene.
Further investigations have unearthed crucial information implicating a group from Khuzdar in Itiqa's murder, shedding light on the motives behind the brutal act.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Adeel Chandio, overseeing the SIU operation, disclosed that the arrested individuals were involved in the illegal sale of vehicles and motorcycles in Balochistan.
Chandio emphasized the significant progress made in the case, attributing it to the dedicated efforts of the SIU team. He stated that crucial evidence has been secured, leading to the identification of additional suspects involved in Itiqa's murder.
Prompt action has been taken, with the deployment of teams to Quetta to pursue further leads and make necessary arrests.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident of street crime, a young man named Itiqa was tragically shot and killed by unidentified robbers in Gulshan-e-Iqbal.
The victim, a 27-year-old chemical engineer and MBA student, was attacked while returning home from a local bakery. The assailants, after fatally injuring Itiqa, fled the scene with his belongings, leaving the victim's family devastated.
The victim's elder brother, Ibad, has filed a murder case against the unidentified perpetrators, seeking justice for his beloved sibling. The incident has sparked outrage among the community, highlighting the urgent need for enhanced security measures to curb rising incidents of street crime in Karachi.
