The Meteorological Department has predicted rain accompanied by thunder in the upper regions of the country, including Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. The forecast comes after a sweltering day in Jacobabad, where the highest temperature in the country was recorded at 44 degrees Celsius.
According to the Met Department, there is also a possibility of rain with thunder and wind in certain areas of Punjab, upper Sindh, and north-eastern Balochistan as well as the capital city of Islamabad. However, the rest of the country is expected to experience dry and hot weather conditions over the next 24 hours.
In the past 24 hours, several regions have experienced extreme temperatures. Turbat, Khairpur, Dadu, Sakrand, and Shaheed Benazirabad all recorded temperatures of 43 degrees Celsius. In major cities, Islamabad experienced a relatively cooler temperature of 36 degrees, while Lahore sweltered at 49 degrees. Karachi recorded 36 degrees, Peshawar 35 degrees, and Quetta also saw temperatures reaching 35 degrees.
A decrease in the intensity of heat has been noticed in Lahore due to the recent rain and strong winds. On Friday, the maximum temperature will be recorded at 39 degrees Celsius, while the weather is expected to remain cloudy throughout the day.
The anticipated weather changes are crucial for the upper regions and could provide much-needed relief from the heat.
