For the fifth time in a week, a fire has broken out on the Margalla Hills in Islamabad, creating a persistent challenge for firefighters. Despite 14 hours of continuous efforts, the fire has yet to be fully controlled.
Over 100 firefighters are battling the blaze, working tirelessly to extinguish the flames. The district administration reported that helicopter operations to cool down the flames were halted during the night, but ground efforts continue unabated.
In connection with the suspected arson, wildlife officials have detained three individuals and handed them over to the police. The district administration has hinted at the possibility of more arrests as the investigation unfolds.
Just two days ago, a case was registered against 15 individuals accused of setting fires in the area.
The recurring fires have raised significant concerns about environmental damage and public safety on the Margalla Hills, prompting authorities to take stringent measures to prevent further incidents. The firefighting teams remain committed to bringing the situation under control and protecting the natural landscape of the region.
Islamabad Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa, who is also the Capital Development Authority (CDA) chairman, confirmed the development in a post on X.
