The Punjab government has taken a significant step ahead of Eidul Azha by announcing that no fee will be charged at the sale points of sacrificial animals.
This decision, made under the directive of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, aims to facilitate citizens during the festive season.
Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique confirmed that on the instructions of the chief minister, animal sale points will be established on the basis of 'No Profit, No Loss' policy, emphasizing that it aligns with the government's commitment to ensuring affordable access to sacrificial animals for the public.
Furthermore, he said Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has instructed authorities to ensure zero waste during Eidul Azha, highlighting the government's dedication to promoting cleanliness and hygiene during the festivities.
To this end, Minister Rafique announced a ban on holidays for municipal employees, starting 10 days before Eid and extending to three days after.
Zeeshan Rafique chaired a meeting of the chief officers of municipal institutions across Punjab. "There will be no compromise on sanitation arrangements," he affirmed, emphasizing the government's commitment to maintaining cleanliness standards across Punjab.
He urged municipalities to expedite the disposal of offal without waiting for deadlines. As part of the comprehensive plan, a Provincial Monitoring Cell will be established in the local government secretary's office. This cell will oversee the coordination and implementation of sanitation initiatives to ensure a seamless and hygienic Eidul Azha experience for citizens across Punjab.
