Amid reports of attacks on foreign students in Kyrgyzstan, Pakistani Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Hassan Zaigham has appealed to Pakistani citizens to verify information before sharing it on social media.
In a video message, the ambassador cautioned against spreading unconfirmed reports, which can cause unnecessary panic and anxiety among families and friends of those living in Kyrgyzstan.
The ambassador's appeal comes as social media platforms have been flooded with unverified reports and speculation about the situation in Kyrgyzstan.
While confirming that some incidents did occur on Friday night, resulting in injuries to 14 foreign nationals, including a Pakistani student, the ambassador emphasized the importance of relying on official sources for information.
"The Kyrgyz government and local authorities are investigating the matter, and we are in close contact with them," he said. "Let us not spread rumours or unconfirmed reports, which can exacerbate the situation."
