Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf PTI-backed Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) claimed that PML MNA, a government ally, Tariq Bashir Cheema abusive words to SIC woman lawmaker Zartaj Gul.
Apart from opposition members, Tariq Bashir Cheema's behavior was also termed inappropriate by the government benches. Women members of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) expressed solidarity with Zartaj Gul. Tariq Bashir Cheema went to Zartaj Gul and said obnoxious words to PTI-backed SIC MNA Zartaj Gul.
The delegation of PTI reached the speaker's chamber with the demand of suspension of membership of Tariq Bashir Cheema. The opposition claimed that Tariq Bashir Cheema ‘insulted’ Zartaj Gul.
NA speaker Ayaz Sadiq inquired have they heard slurs by themselves. Shahid Khattak said that Zartaj Gul was crying inside.
The members of the Sunni Unity Council (SIC) said that Tariq Bashir Cheema’s abuse of Zartaj Gul should not be repeated.
“If the speaker does not take action, they will not allow Tariq Basheer to enter the assembly,” SIC said.
Shahid Khattak said the Speaker has said that he will take strict action and then they will be responsible for the environment of the house.
Iqbal Afridi said his sitting in this house is also an ‘insult to the house’. “If he said something to our leader, it didn't matter if he said something to us, but he has attacked women, we will not let him go,” he said.
Tariq Bashir Cheema will 'apologize on floor of the House'
National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq intervened on the issue of a feud between Tariq Bashir Cheema and Zartaj Gul.
Sources claimed Pakistan Muslim League (PML) Tariq Bashir Cheema will apologize on the floor of the house.
Sources further claimed Tariq Bashir Cheema's membership will be suspended for the current session. Speaker Ayaz Sadiq played an important role in resolving the matter. Both lawmakers reconciled while sitting in the speaker's chamber.
SIC lawmaker Asad Qaiser said matters have been settled through mutual consultation. He said all the parties took a joint decision and played a good role as women should be respected.
