Pakistani doctors working in Saudi Arabia and Gulf countries received a momentous boost as Saudi Arabia and other Gulf nations officially recognized Pakistan's esteemed postgraduate degree programs, MS (Master of Surgery) and MD (Doctor of Medicine).
The long-awaited recognition comes as a result of tireless efforts led by the Association of University Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (AUPSP), dedicated to advocating for the acknowledgement of Pakistani medical degrees across the Gulf region.
The pivotal decision was reached during a significant visit by a high-level delegation from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties to Riyadh. This landmark visit catalyzed the revival of the MD and MS programs, now classified under the esteemed designation of Senior Registrar.
This recognition not only elevates the status of Pakistani doctors but also promises substantial enhancements in rank, salary, and benefits for those serving in Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries.
The General Secretary of the AUPSP hailed this achievement as a triumph and a source of national pride, asserting that it will not only amplify the honour and dignity of Pakistani doctors abroad but also elevate the stature of the country's medical sector.
Dr Asad Noor Mirza, a representative of AUPSP, expressed optimism about the implications of this decision, highlighting that Pakistani experts and consultant doctors are now poised to deliver services at par with the best in Saudi Arabia.
With an estimated three thousand Pakistani doctors set to benefit from this landmark decision, Dr. Mirza emphasized the significant opportunities this recognition brings, contrasting the earlier scenario where one thousand doctors had returned disheartened due to the lack of recognition.
