Karachi’s matriculation exams have descended into chaos, with the 10th class English paper leaked and circulating on WhatsApp groups before the exam.
This incident has raised concerns about the integrity of the examination process in the city.
In Malir, the situation exacerbated when an unexpected influx of two hundred additional students arrived at the Government Girls' School, causing delays in the commencement of the exam. As a result, the exam started late, and some students were compelled to sit on the ground to attempt the paper.
To mitigate the challenges faced by the students, additional time was granted to compensate for the delayed start. Despite efforts to accommodate the surge in students, the incident has underscored the inadequacies in the management of the examination centers.
Responding to the situation, the Chairman of the Matriculation Board acknowledged the issues encountered at the exam center in Malir. He stated that measures were taken to address the shortage of seating arrangements by providing additional chairs and tables to accommodate the unexpected influx of students.
However, the incident has sparked outrage among parents and students alike, who have expressed dismay over the compromised integrity of the examination process. Many are calling for a thorough investigation into the leak of the English paper and for measures to be implemented to prevent such incidents from recurring in the future.
