Alkhidmat has achieved another milestone in helping Gazan families by starting relief work from Jordan. Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan and Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) have formally signed an agreement under which the JHCO will collaborate with Alkhidmat to deliver relief aid in Gaza from Jordan via Kerem Shalom Crossing.
The momentous occasion was marked during a formal meeting between Air Marshal (Retd) Arshad Malik, National Director of Aghosh, and a delegation representing the Jordanian charity organization Hashemite Foundation. Signing ceremony was presided over by Mohammad Abdus Shakoor, Vice President Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan, and Dr. Hussain Al Shabli, Secretary General of JHCO, in the esteemed presence of Pakistan Ambassador to Jordan, H.E. Major General (Retd) Muhammad Ajmal Iqbal.
Highlighting the significance of the agreement, Muhammad Abdus Shakoor elucidated that the collaboration aims to streamline humanitarian assistance efforts and coordinate aid activities effectively in Gaza. Notably, the agreement signifies a breakthrough in logistics, as aid supplies from Pakistan will now traverse a new route via the ‘Kerem Abu Shalom Crossing’ in Israel, following Israel's agreement under international pressure, he mentioned. This strategic shift is poised to alleviate congestion at the Rafah Crossing in Egypt, consequently enhancing administrative efficiency, he concluded.
Now, Alkhidmat Gaza relief goods dispatched from Pakistan will seamlessly transit through Jordan to reach the beneficiaries at the Shalom Crossing in Gaza. In addition to logistical support, the JHCO will also undertake reporting duties in collaboration with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA), further augmenting the aid delivery mechanism.
Emphasizing the expeditious delivery of aid, Muhammad Abdus Shakoor disclosed that the first consignment of food and medicine has already embarked on its journey to Gaza within 24 hours of arriving in Jordan from Pakistan. Abdus Shakoor also met with Pakistan Ambassador to Jordan, H.E. Major General (Retd) Muhammad Ajmal Iqbal, and thanked him for the Pakistan Embassy's support in providing facilitation for Alkhidmat's partnership with Jordan-based organization JHCO. Pakistan Ambassador to Jordan extended commendations to Alkhidmat Foundation for its steadfast commitment to the people of Gaza and pledged to continue supporting Alkhidmat for Gaza relief efforts via Jordan.
Following the MoU with JHCO, a top level delegation from Alkhidmat Foundation embarked on a visit to Jordan, where they toured the facilities of the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization. Dr. Hussain Al Shabli provided insights into the ongoing aid initiatives in Gaza, underscoring the collective resolve to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian families in Gaza. The humanitarian crisis in Gaza has persisted for over 205 days. Alkhidmat has delivered over 1700 tons of life-saving relief aid in Gaza since October 07 through our partners in Gaza.
