The deployment of Rangers in Karachi has been extended for another six months. The Sindh government has granted its approval.
In a provincial cabinet meeting held on Thursday, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah approved the extension period. The Sindh Rangers will continue to possess powers under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
The cabinet also approved the formation of a governing body in place of an Overseas Committee in the Sindh Building Control Authority. It also approved the addition of four new members to the Thar Coal and Energy Board. The members include Shazia Mari, Education Minister Sardar Shah, Irrigation Minister Jam Khan Shoro and Karni Singh.
According to a spokesperson, the cabinet exempted a plot measuring 45,371 square yards in North Nazimabad from stamp duty, where the Bohri community wants to build a university.
