The Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education has commenced its annual Intermediate Examinations Part 2 with the participation of over 194,645 students across 567 examination centres.
The examination controller said today's exams include psychology, nursing, and food and nutrition, adding that monitoring and enforcement teams will conduct raids in the examination centres of Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, and Nankana Sahib.
The controller also announced the postponement of exams scheduled for April 20 and 22 due to the upcoming by-elections on National and provincial assembly seats. These papers will now be conducted on May 23 and May 25, respectively, to accommodate the electoral process.
Meanwhile, Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat emphasized the government's commitment to conducting transparent examinations and vowed there would be “zero cheating” this time. He claimed that owing to a crackdown, the "booti mafia" had been almost eradicated, warning of two-year jail term for the “cheating mafia” playing the future of students.
The minister also announced that the crackdown on cheating mafia would continue, adding that examinations would not be held in smaller centres anymore. Hayat also announced a complete ban on private invigilators, the installation of surveillance cameras in examination centres, and the addition of non-bailable provisions against “cheating mafia”.
"Those arrested will be punished and fined heavily," he stated, reaffirming his dedication to upholding the integrity of the examination process and continuing the fight against cheating syndicates.
