Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has issued directives to initiate investigations against electricity overbilling companies.
According to details, the special teams consisting of officials from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the anti-corruption Wing have been formed.
In order to save electricity consumers from overbilling during the summer, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi himself has taken action.
While issuing directives for investigations against overbilling companies, the interior Minister has formed special teams of the FIA, which include officials from the Anti-Corruption Wing and other senior officers.
FIA officers will monitor the billing and electricity theft of every electricity distribution company. Adil Khan Niazi has been appointed as the focal person for Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO).
Shabir Ahmed has been assigned as the focal person for Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) and Zawar Manzoor for Gujranwala Electric Power Company (Gepco).
All officers will collectively take action in coordination with the CEOs of electricity distribution companies.
Meanwhile, the FIA officers will directly report cases of electricity theft and overbilling to the Interior Minister.
The FIA officers will also have the authority to take action against officers involved in overbilling and electricity theft.
