Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has asserted that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) grabbed highest number of seats in the 2024 general elections.
Speaking on Samaa TV program 'Nadeem Malik Live', he described the PTI as a political reality, emphasizing its electoral success.
The former Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader announced the formation of a new political party, revealing that former finance minister Miftah Ismail and former senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar will join him in this venture.
He clarified that the new party will not bear the name of Pakistan Muslim League.
Explaining the process of party registration, Abbasi indicated that the new party’s activities will commence within 4 to 6 weeks. He disclosed discussions with figures like Lashkar Raisani and Khawaja Hoti, considering the possibility of naming the party after Pakistan Muslim League. However, ultimately, they decided against it.
Regarding governance issues, the former premier advocated for judicial independence and systemic reforms. He criticized the current government’s performance, emphasizing the need for effective governance and parliamentary functionality.
The former PML-N leader went on to say that the judge who previously sentenced Nawaz Sharif has sentenced Imran Khan to imprisonment.
He emphasized that the founding chairman of PTI must integrate the party into the political mainstream, underscoring that PTI's presence is undeniable, having secured the highest number of seats.
Abbasi expressed skepticism about the government's performance, suggesting that a cabinet term of 16 months may not yield desired results. Abbasi called for improved governance to address the country's challenges effectively.
