Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Zaka Ashraf said on Saturday that white-ball captain Babar Azam had left the captaincy of all formats at will.
Speaking to the media, Ashraf said: "I wanted to retain Babar Azam as the red-ball captain. However, I wanted to appoint a new captain in white-ball formats."
Ashraf extended his best wishes for Azam and the entire national cricket team.
He was of the view that it was too early to decide on the removal of Shaheen Shah Afridi from the captaincy.
Expressing his thoughts in line with coaching, Ashraf said: "It does not matter that the coach is foreign or local. However, whoever is appointed as the team coach should prove to be helpful for the team."
