The allegations suggesting that Bushra Bibi, the wife of former prime minister Imran Khan, was poisoned while in Bani Gala sub-jail have been proven false by a medical report released by the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).
The report, compiled by a team of four senior lady doctors, has declared Bushra Bibi to be in good health.
According to the medical report, Bushra Bibi complained about deteriorating health after consuming food approximately two and a half months ago. The patient had complained about burning in the stomach, swollen lips, constant watery eyes, and dry skin.
Despite initial discomfort, all reported symptoms subsided within an hour. Later, she continued to experience stomach discomfort and foul taste in the mouth for a few weeks, as well as blocked ears and weight loss. No abnormalities were detected in Bushra Bibi's vital signs, including heart rate, pulse, blood pressure, and weight, according to the report.
Four senior female doctors examined Bushra Bibi at the Bani Gala sub-jail. According to their report, the medical examination did not reveal anything that Bushra Bibi had complained about. The team of doctors has prescribed her some medicines for the next 14 days.
Also, the report stated that Bushra Bibi's eyes were not examined, as she did not allow it.
The medical team's findings revealed no evidence to substantiate the allegations of slow poisoning made by some members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership.
Moreover, PTI Founder Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi's personal physician, Dr. Asim Yousuf, refuted the poisoning claims on Thursday, stating that his examination found no indications of poisoning. He said there was no evidence at this time that the former first lady had been poisoned, emphasising that no tests related to poisoning were deemed necessary.
