The first virtual reality classes in Pakistan have begun at the Information Technology University of Lahore.
Being the first university in Pakistan to provide classes in the metaverse, Information Technology University will now provide students taking online courses with the same sense of participation as they would in a conventional educational environment.
Students and teachers could be in any city, or country, they just have to put on a virtual reality headset and will reach the class. There will be a projector and board for the teacher.
In metaverse, along with questions and answers from students, their movements can also be felt. Students say that the virtual classroom is so close to reality that it has become easier to understand the syllabus.
Head of the Department of Computer Sciences, Ibrahim Ghaznavi, says that with this initiative, where energy will be saved, the academic ability of students will also be improved.
He said that when online classes started after Covid-19, it was necessary to improve the facility because the students did not understand online classes, and the class was not close to reality. As part of the pilot project, the university has signed an agreement with the University of Denmark.
The IT industry is of the opinion that if the legislators make laws for modern technology and use it for the promotion of education, then sooner the world will acknowledge Pakistan's importance in this field.
