Honda Atlas Cars has announced a substantial reduction in the prices of its renowned sedan, the Honda City.
This move comes in response to recent adjustments in government taxation policies, aimed at revitalising the struggling auto sector of the nation.
Following in the footsteps of other leading automakers, Honda Atlas Cars has decided to slash prices, offering significant relief to potential buyers.
Effective immediately, the price of the City MT 1.2L has been reduced by Rs50,000, now standing at Rs4.649 million. Similarly, the City CVT 1.2L sees a substantial drop of Rs140,000, with its new price set at Rs4.689 million.
This decision by Honda Atlas Cars comes amidst a challenging landscape for the automotive industry in Pakistan. Recent changes in tax regulations, including a 25% increase in sales tax for vehicles priced above Rs4 million, have added strain to an already burdened sector.
While initially targeting cars with engine capacities of 1400cc and above, the tax hike inadvertently impacted smaller SUVs as well, prompting the government to include a price cap of Rs4 million.
