Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif chaired a meeting in Peshawar wherein he was given briefing that 40 people killed as a result of stormy rains and snowfall while 62 were injured.
As per briefing 635 houses have been completely and partially destroyed and all major highways in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have now been partially restored.
“Work is also going on the highways where snowfall and landslides are still going on. Preparations are complete to deal with any emergency situation regarding expected snowfall,” the briefing said.
Shehbaz Sharif said that all institutions should participate in the rescue and rehabilitation measures of the victims of stormy rains and snowfall.
“No effort should be spared in helping and rehabilitating the victims,” Prime Minister's directive.
It was briefed that NDMA has taken all possible measures for the rescue and rehabilitation of the victims in collaboration with the provincial administration.
Prime Minister said: “The residents of the affected houses should be ensured the provision of relief funds in the next five days. In this hour of distress, the federal government will extend all possible support to the victims.”
