In preparation for the upcoming holy month of Ramadan, the UAE government has unveiled revised working hours for public sector employees. The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) has issued a directive outlining the official timings during this auspicious period.
According to the FAHR announcement, ministries and federal entities will operate from 9 am to 2:30 pm from Monday to Thursday. Additionally, on Fridays, working hours will be shortened to three hours, spanning from 9 am to 12 pm.
Moreover, in alignment with flexible working policies, government offices have the discretion to implement strategies ensuring compliance with the stipulated daily office hours. Notably, employees will have the option to work remotely on Fridays, with a maximum of 70 percent of an entity's workforce permitted to carry out their duties from home, subject to approved regulations.
The commencement date of Ramadan 2024 is expected to fall on either Monday, March 11, or Tuesday, March 12, according to various sources, including the UAE's International Astronomy Center.
The official confirmation of the start date typically awaits the sighting of the Sha'ban crescent moon by the respective moon sighting committees, composed of religious leaders and astronomers.
As the anticipation builds for the arrival of Ramadan, the UAE government's proactive measures aim to facilitate a conducive work environment for its employees while honoring the traditions and significance of this sacred month.
