The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), and Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC) have launched a cutting-edge mobile application, ‘Rah Guzar,’ marking a significant step towards the digitalization of Pakistan’s oil supply chain.
The launch ceremony was held at OGRA’s headquarters in Islamabad and was chaired by OGRA Chairman Masroor Khan. Senior officials from the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), FBR, Customs, Explosives Department, and representatives from OCAC were in attendance.
The ‘Rah Guzar’ app utilizes Geographic Information System (GIS) technology to enable users to identify legal petrol pumps and outlets across the country. The app also provides a platform for local governments and law enforcement agencies to detect illegal outlets or “box stations.”
Moreover, Pakistani consumers can use the app to lodge complaints regarding illegal outlets, overcharging, or quality concerns, thereby promoting transparency and empowering stakeholders.
Speaking at the event, OGRA Chairman Masroor Khan highlighted that the initiative began in August 2024 with discussions between OGRA and FBR. He stated, “‘Rah Guzar’ marks the first phase of a broader track-and-trace system aimed at enhancing accountability, curbing illegal activities, and strengthening the integrity of the oil industry.”
This initiative is expected to be a game changer in addressing challenges posed by illegal petrol pumps and corruption. The launch of the ‘Rah Guzar’ app reflects OGRA’s commitment to effective governance and a transparent, accountable energy ecosystem.
