A remote-controlled bomb targeted a passenger bus in the New Behman area of Turbat, killing six people and injuring over 30 others.
Those injured also include police personnel. At least eight of the injured are reported to be in critical condition, according to police sources.
The bus was carrying security personnel when the explosion occurred. Among the injured were five police officials, including the senior superintendent of police (SSP) of Kech, whose vehicle was passing nearby at the time of the blast.
The victims included Noor Khan, Abdul Wahab, Ijaz and Liaquat Ali, as per security sources.
They further said that it had been proved that the Balochistan Liberation Army was targeting innocent citizens for its nefarious purposes, adding that the organization claiming to fight for the rights of the Baloch was rather an enemy of the people of the province.
"The attack proves that BLA's training is to kill innocent people," the sources said. The banned BLA killed more than 100 innocent Baloch citizens in a year, the security sources added.
They recalled that on November 9, 2024, the BLA killed 10 innocent Baloch in a suicide attack.
Police sources said that according to the initial investigation, the incident was a suicide blast. Further investigation into the explosion is underway, they added.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the attack, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of innocent lives. "Beasts who target innocent people do not deserve to be called human beings," he said, offering his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and praying for speedy recovery of the injured.
Naqvi also assured the victims' families of the government's full support.
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti also condemned the Turbat blast, expressing sadness over the loss of precious human lives in the incident. "Those who target innocent people do not deserve to be called human beings," he echoed Naqvi's remarks.
Bugti also expressed grief with the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
