The 32nd National Handball Championship has officially begun in Bahawalpur at the city's Dring Stadium. Organized under the leadership of the Pakistan Army and in collaboration with the Pakistan Handball Federation, the championship opened to a vibrant audience of spectators, including a large number of children.
A total of 10 teams from across the country are participating in the tournament, which is set to showcase the talents of approximately 500 athletes. The teams representing various sectors include the Army, Police, WAPDA, Higher Education, and provincial teams from all five provinces.
The championship, which will run until December 28, 2024, will feature league-based matches where players will compete to demonstrate their skills and determination on the court.
Dr. Farhan Farooq, Deputy Commissioner of Bahawalpur, attended the opening ceremony as the chief guest and spoke to the media about the significance of such events. He expressed his pleasure at witnessing the National Handball Championship in Bahawalpur, emphasizing the importance of such competitions in fostering national unity.
Dr. Farooq also highlighted that events like these provide a platform for emerging talent to showcase their abilities, contributing to the growth of sports and the identification of new players for future competitions.
