In a recent act of repression, Indian police raided the residence and office of martyr Syed Ali Geelani, seizing important books and documents linked to the Kashmir liberation movement.
The raid took place in the morning and targeted both Geelani’s residence and the office of the Jammu and Kashmir Freedom Movement (Tehreek-e-Hurriyat).
According to Kashmir Media Service (KMS), during the raid, the police also searched the office of the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir and confiscated various important documents, including books written by Syed Ali Geelani.
This is not an isolated incident, as reports from KMS suggest that over the past year, more than 100 political and civil rights leaders in Kashmir have faced similar raids.
In many cases, police have seized documents and electronic devices, further escalating the political suppression in the region.
The All Parties Hurriyat Conference, a prominent pro-independence alliance in Kashmir, has condemned the raids, calling them an attempt to stifle the voices of Kashmir’s resistance movement. They expressed outrage at the continued harassment of political leaders and activists fighting for the rights of the Kashmiri people under Indian occupation.
These raids are part of an ongoing crackdown on dissent in Kashmir, as Indian authorities seek to tighten their grip on the region while silencing opposition to their policies.
