In collaboration with the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), the Reko Diq Mining Company has launched the second phase of its "International Graduate Development Program" for 2024.
As part of this initiative, 18 graduates from Balochistan have been selected for a two-year on-the-job training program aimed at developing their skills for successful careers in the mining industry.
The selection process, based on a merit-driven approach, saw more than 3,000 applicants competing for the 18 available spots. Notably, the group includes four women, underscoring the company's commitment to gender inclusion in its workforce.
The selected graduates hail from various districts of Balochistan, where the company operates its mining projects.
The program, facilitated by Barrick Gold, Reko Diq’s parent company, will provide training in Argentina and Zambia. The initiative aims to empower Balochistan’s youth by equipping them with essential skills in the mining sector.
Speaking at the program's inauguration in Karachi, Barrick Gold CEO Mark Bristow encouraged the students to seize this opportunity: “Learn with dedication and make a meaningful contribution not only to the Reko Diq project but to the bright future of your province and country.”
The program is a testament to the government's efforts, supported by SIFC, to create employment opportunities and promote human resource development in Balochistan.
