The Punjab government has decided to restore the health card scheme, albeit with some changes.
In a special meeting, the chief minister was given a detailed briefing on the health insurance program in Punjab, where Maryam Nawaz said no poor person would be deprived of the right to free medical treatment.
She said that the project had been started by the PML-N and will be restarted with a sustainable mechanism. In a few weeks, people will be able to get the facility.
The chief minister asked for a workable plan for re-launching of the Sahet Card in Punjab. She also approved the formation of a working group to make the card more effective.
According to Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique: "Poor patients will be able to receive free treatment on the health card, while the premium will be lower for the middle class."
Furthermore, government employees and corporate sector workers will also be included in the health card scheme.
