The Punjab election commissioner’s office has released the details of the nomination papers it has received until the deadline for their submission on Sunday.
A total of 13,823 nomination papers have been received by the provincial election commission for the general and special seats of the National and provincial assemblies.
Out of these, 3,594 are men and 277 women who have submitted their documents for the general seats of the National Assembly. Additionally, 195 nomination papers have been received for the seats reserved for women in the National Assembly.
Moreover, nomination papers of 8,592 men and 437 women have been submitted for the general seats of the Punjab Assembly.
Over in Sindh, 9,140 nomination papers have been submitted for the 2024 general elections, out of which 2,555 nominations are for the 61 general seats of the National Assembly.
Moreover, 6,585 nomination papers have been submitted for the 130 general seats of the Sindh Assembly.
In this regard, Sindh Election Commissioner Sharifullah has said that the scrutiny of nomination papers will continue till December 30. He has directed all the candidates to ensure strict compliance with the guidelines of the election commission.
He further said that all resources will be utilised for a peaceful, clean, transparent, and impartial conduct of the elections. The Election Commission of Pakistan is fully prepared to fulfil its constitutional responsibility and is committed to ensuring the free, fair and impartial conduct of elections.
According to the election schedule, the process of scrutinising nomination papers will continue until December 30.
