The Sindh government has issued directives to seal 176 petrol pumps across the province for selling smuggled and substandard fuel.
The Sindh Home Department has written a letter to commissioners in Karachi, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Nawabshah, Sukkur, and Larkana in this regard.
The letter says that 176 petrol pumps were involved in selling smuggled and substandard petrol. It has instructed local authorities to seal the petrol stations, take immediate legal action against them and prevent further distribution of illegal fuel.
The Home Department has also directed commissioners to digitise all petrol stations throughout Sindh, allowing for better regulation and tracking of fuel quality and compliance.
“No petrol pump will be allowed to sell smuggled fuel in the future,” a statement from the department emphasized.
