The price of chicken in Multan has seen a significant increase, leading to a rise in the cost of biryani.
According to details surfaced on Sunday, the price of chicken, which was sold at Rs400 per kilogram a week ago, has surged to Rs530 rupees per kilogram. As a result, the cost of a 14-kilo biryani pot had jumped from Rs11,000 rupees to Rs13,000.
Local residents are growing increasingly concerned. One of the customers expressed frustration over the price hike, stating, "My cousin’s wedding was last week, and we ordered 10 biryani pots for Rs110,000. Now, the same order costs 135,000 rupees. We had barely managed to gather the money."
The rising cost of chicken is also creating difficulties for those involved in the biryani business.
Biryani shop owner Muhammad Ahmad said, "We were buying chicken at Rs400 per kilo just a week ago. Now, the price has gone up to Rs510 to Rs520 per kilo. Clearly, when the cost of chicken rises, the price of a biryani pot increases by 1,500 to 2,000 rupees."
Local citizens had urged the authorities to take action and reduce the price of chicken.
