Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Qamar Zaman Kaira on Friday talking to media persons in Jahanian said that only weak political parties needed political alliance.
Kaira was commenting on the PMLN-MQM-P alliance that formed to contest elections jointly. However, later MQM-P convenor Khalid Maqbool Siddique talking to a private TV channel clarified that an agreement was reached but no electoral alliance was formed with the PMLN.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) have joined hands and formed an electoral alliance to contest the general elections in 2024 together.
A delegation from the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) reached Lahore from Karachi and held discussions with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif. The top huddle was attended by bigwigs from both parties and resulted in a joint declaration aimed at addressing the pressing issues facing Pakistan.

PPP senior leader said there is no reason that there would be no elections on time. “Elections will be held on time,” the PPP leader stressed.
He argued that the People's Party's victory in local body elections was proof of public popularity.

He admitted that PPP in Punjab weakened due to the departure of old comrades but vowed disgruntled colleagues would be brought back.
“All parties will be given an opportunity to contest the election,” he reiterated the PPP policy.
“There is a tradition of making alliances which is tantamount to interfering in politics,” he said.
