In a much-needed reprieve for inflation-stricken citizens, the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has been reduced for January 2025, providing some financial relief at the start of the new year.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) issued a notification for January 1, announcing a reduction of Rs4.1 per kilogram in LPG prices.
The price of an 11.8kg domestic cylinder has been slashed by Rs47.43, bringing the cost down to Rs2,953, compared to the previous month's price of Rs3,079. The price of a commercial cylinder has also been reduced by Rs182, now costing Rs11,363.
According to OGRA, the government producer price for LPG has been reduced by Rs4,020 per metric ton, leading to the current per kilogram price being fixed at Rs250.28.
This reduction is expected to provide some relief to households and businesses relying on LPG, especially amid rising inflation and energy costs.
