Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist Sanam Javed has filed a contempt of court plea against Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab and others in the Lahore High Court (LHC).
The petition, filed on behalf of Sanam Javed by advocate Shakeel Pasha, names various police officers, including the IG of Punjab and the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) of Lahore, as respondents.
The basis of the petition is that, in compliance with a court order, the aforementioned officers were supposed to submit a report on the cases related to Sanam Javed to the Lahore High Court.
According to the police, two cases have been registered against Ms Javed, and they have subsequently arrested the individual in connection with these cases. Ms Javed was presented before the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in relation to these two cases.
The petitioner prayed the court to take action for contempt of court against the police officers for contempt of court. The Lahore High Court is anticipated to consider the merits of Sanam Javed’s plea during a hearing scheduled for Monday.
