Defence Minister Khawaja Asif criticised on Sunday Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan in connection with the events that transpired on May 9, last year.
Addressing a press conference in London, Asif said: "May 9 was orchestrated by someone who was part of the establishment". He pointed out the delay in resolving the issue, stating, "The matter regarding 25 criminals from May 9 has been pending for over a year due to obstruction by the judiciary, despite the urgent nature of the issue."
He stressed that attacks on the country’s foundations and armed forces had occurred, attacks that had never been witnessed even from Indian forces. "The attacks in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were well-planned, with trained mobs following instructions," Asif added.
The defence minister said, "Videos of the incident clearly show the faces and voices of those involved, and based on these, they have been sentenced."
He accused Imran Khan of being part of the establishment's plan to bring him to power in 2018, citing the involvement of former military figures in his rise.
Asif criticised the Panama case verdict, calling it a shameful decision by the judiciary.
He said: "The PTI's leadership and their families were involved in corruption, which ran into billions."
The defence minister expressed concerns about Khan's shifting stance on the United States, claiming, "He is not a leader who can be trusted when his position changes in moments."
