Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif addressed the cabinet on Tuesday and vowed that there would not be any of Pakistan’s nuclear program affirming program solely for defence purposes and would not be used aggressively.
On the issue of national security, he reaffirmed Pakistan's stance on its nuclear program, clarifying that it was solely for defensive purposes and would not be used aggressively.
He stated that any action taken against Pakistan would be met with a defensive response. The Prime Minister emphasized that the nuclear program belonged to the people of Pakistan, and there would be no compromise on it.
He expressed unwavering faith that, through collective effort, the scourge of terrorism would be eradicated, and Pakistan would emerge victorious.
PTI-govt talks
Shehbaz Sharif shared an update on the negotiations of the government with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and said the first session of talks was held with the PTI.
He said the next session with PTI will be held on January 2nd.
Shehbaz Sharif said national interest should be given priority over personnel interest.
Vows to end terrorism uptick
The premier highlighting the recent surge in terrorist attacks in Pakistan expressed condolences for the 17 martyrs of a recent attack by the Kharijites and prayed for the deceased.
The prime minister emphasized that Pakistan's security forces had successfully neutralized eight terrorists, sending them to hell. He praised the Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir for visiting Wana to encourage the forces.
Shehbaz Sharif acknowledged the resurgence of terrorism in the country and warned that the progress and prosperity of Pakistan would not reach the public until terrorism was completely eradicated. He assured that the government, in collaboration with provincial authorities, was actively working to combat terrorism. He emphasized that Pakistan would not rest until terrorism was eliminated.
Parachinar killings unfortunate
PM Shehbaz also addressed the distinct causes of terrorism in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He expressed confidence that attempts against Pakistan would fail and condemned the tragic sectarian violence that resulted in significant loss of life. Sharif lamented that resources and attention were diverted from Parachinar when they should have been focused on the local challenges.
