Rana Manan Khan Chairman of the Punjab Chief Minister Task Force for Prisons, visited Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi following a special directive from the chief minister.
During the visit, he reviewed facilities in wards for women and children. According to details, Khan interacted with inmates to inquire about police behaviour, food services, visitation rights, health facilities, and other concerns. He inspected the prison hospital, kitchen, factory, and various barracks, assessing the quality of facilities available to prisoners.
The chairman also discussed issues with police officers, addressing their challenges.
Speaking during the visit, Khan stated that he was touring Punjab’s prisons under instructions from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. He emphasised the implementation of reforms to foster an environment of disapproval for crime.
He said: "Measures such as ensuring eight-hour shifts to reduce police workload, engaging psychologists for prisoners' mental well-being, operating fully functional daycare centres, and enforcing anti-narcotics measures. He affirmed that eradicating corruption remained a top priority.
