Opposition Leader Omar Ayub demanded an independent inquiry into the deaths of Rangers and police personnel during the protests.
“The martyrdom of our security personnel is a grave matter that requires a transparent investigation,” he emphasized.
He has alleged life-threatening attacks on key Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) figures including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Bushra Bibi — wife of PTI’s founder.
Ayub claimed they were directly targeted with gunfire, and a tear gas shell was fired at his neck during recent clashes.
“These murderous attacks on Ali Amin Gandapur and Bushra Bibi are condemnable,” Ayub said in a statement. “We were directly shot at, which we strongly denounce. I will pursue legal action against these acts of violence.”
The allegations and demands come amid escalating political unrest, with PTI leaders accusing the government of using excessive force to suppress dissent. Ayub’s remarks have intensified calls for accountability and justice from both sides of the political spectrum.
The government has yet to respond to Ayub's allegations or the demand for an inquiry. The political climate remains tense, with protests and sit-ins continuing across the country.
