Seven terrorists were killed during an encounter between the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab and terrorists near the Makarwal area of Mianwali.
The operation, based on intelligence reports, thwarted a planned attack on Mianwali district, according to CTD officials.
CTD claimed that the terrorists opened fire on the team when they were intercepted during an intelligence-based operation. In the ensuing exchange, seven dangerous terrorists were eliminated, while eight others managed to escape. The CTD has cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to apprehend the remaining suspects.
During the operation, the CTD recovered a significant cache of weapons and explosives, including seven Kalashnikov rifles, six hand grenades, bullets, explosives, and safety fuse wires. The identification process of the killed terrorists is currently underway, while efforts are being intensified to capture those who fled.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz lauded the CTD team for their bravery and successful operation. She emphasized that the war against terrorism would continue until its complete eradication, reaffirming her government's commitment to public safety.
"The Pakistan Army is the guarantor of public security, and the police along with other law enforcement agencies are our pride," Maryam Nawaz said in her statement. She further added that the nation stands united with its security forces in the ongoing fight against terrorism.
