A major oil and gas deposit has been discovered in the Sanghar district of Sindh, bringing new hope for Pakistan’s energy sector.
The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) announced the discovery through a notice issued to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX). This significant find is located in the Sanjhuru Block of the Sambar Formation, where drilling began earlier this year.
The well, named Baloch 2, started yielding 388 barrels of crude oil per day, alongside a production of 6.8 million standard cubic feet of gas per day. This discovery not only strengthens Pakistan’s domestic energy resources but also boosts the potential for further discoveries in the region.
The discovery in the Sambar Formation is seen as a positive development for the country’s energy sector, which has long been searching for viable new oil and gas reserves to reduce dependence on imports.
