PTI Senator Aun Abbas Bappi has alleged that UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed concerns over "false cases" against PTI Founder Imran Khan during his recent visit to Pakistan.
Speaking on Samaa TV’s talk show 'Nadeem Malik Live', Bappi claimed the UAE leader advised the Pakistan government to halt such actions, reflecting a shift in international sentiment.
"The government is under pressure from the international establishment," stated Bappi. "They know the winds are changing, and their actions are being scrutinised. The UAE president has explicitly said that these baseless cases should stop."
Bappi criticised delays in the verdict related to the 190 million pound case, noting that even if Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi appear in court on January 17, the verdict may still be withheld. "The sentence is being dictated from behind the scenes," he alleged.
He emphasized the need for the state to rebuild trust for meaningful dialogue, reiterating that the PTI remains committed to fair negotiations.
Talal Chaudhry counters claims
In response, PML-N leader Talal Chaudhry dismissed Bappi’s allegations as exaggerations. He argued that the PTI often misrepresents issues, claiming, "The UAE president likely doesn’t even remember the PTI founder is in jail."
Chaudhry added that the Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia, China, and Turkey, were previously dissatisfied with PTI's leadership and behaviour. "The PTI has a habit of exaggerating things that don’t exist," he remarked.
