The Punjab government has announced a speed limit of 60 kilometres per hour for motorcycles across the province in an effort to reduce road accidents caused by speeding.
The decision was revealed by Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari, who expressed concern over the rising number of fatalities on the roads.
"It is tragic that people are losing their lives due to speeding," Bukhari stated, emphasizing the importance of this regulation to ensure public safety.
She further added that strict measures will be enforced to ensure compliance with the new speed limit. "The speed of the motorcycle will not exceed 60km/h."
In addition to addressing road safety, the provincial government is also focusing on promoting environmentally friendly transportation.
Azma Bukhari revealed that the first batch of 28 electric vehicles is set to arrive in Lahore within two to three days, marking a significant step toward the adoption of sustainable transportation solutions in Punjab.
