In response to recent allegations over the wheat import saga, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Monday stated that any attempts to implicate him will prove futile.
Speaking to media persons in Lahore, Naqvi clarified that the authority to import wheat rests solely with the federal government and is unrelated to the operations of the Punjab government.
Highlighting the distinction between federal and provincial responsibilities, Naqvi emphasised that the Punjab government procures wheat domestically from farmers, excluding any involvement in international imports.
He maintained that the federal government's decision to export wheat was not driven by malicious intent.
Asserting his commitment to transparent governance, Naqvi assured that his team operated with integrity. He announced the formation of a new cyber body alongside the continued operations of the Federal Investigation Agency's (FIA) cyber division. Additionally, he disclosed plans for a revamped anti-drug strategy.
Addressing public concerns, Naqvi pledged to extend passport office hours as necessary and reiterated the government's stance on issuing arms licenses only in compliance with regulations, particularly regarding prohibited bore weapons.
In a nod to infrastructure development, Naqvi revealed plans for the expansion of Lahore Airport, slated to commence in the coming weeks. This announcement signals the government's proactive approach to enhancing transportation facilities and stimulating economic growth.
