Preparations are in full swing for the grand wedding of Zayd Hussain Nawaz, a grandson of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and son of Hussain Nawaz. The event is set to be a lavish affair with local and international dignitaries gracing the celebrations.
The festivities will begin on December 24 and will include several events, such as a qawwali night and traditional gatherings. Zayd Hussain Nawaz’s nikah and mehndi ceremony are scheduled for December 25 at the Sharif family residence of Jati Umra, Lahore, with around 500 guests expected to attend.
The wedding ceremony will take place on December 27, followed by a grand walima reception on December 29, hosting 700 guests.
International guests and arrangements
Dignitaries from the United States, the United Kingdom, European countries, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, India, and other neighbouring nations are expected to attend. Special arrangements have been made to accommodate international guests, with 25 to 30 rooms booked at the Falettis Hotel, Lahore, and the State Guesthouse where the administration has been officially informed.
The entire Sharif family living abroad has returned to Pakistan for the occasion. Nawaz Sharif’s younger daughter, Asma Nawaz, arrived from Dubai, while Hassan Nawaz, another of Nawaz Sharif’s sons, joined the family in Lahore.
Security measures
Given the scale and profile of the wedding, stringent security arrangements have been made. The Punjab Police have been tasked with ensuring the safety of both domestic and international attendees.
The wedding of Zayd Hussain Nawaz marks a significant family event for the Sharifs, following the high-profile wedding of Nawaz Sharif’s grandson Junaid Safdar in 2021.
