The Meteorological Department (PDMA) has predicted heavy rain, thunderstorms, and hail across the province until April 29. The impending weather system is expected to bring stormy rains to various districts, prompting authorities to issue precautionary advisories.
According to a spokesperson from the PDMA, on April 28, stormy rains are anticipated in the districts of south Punjab, raising concerns for potential disruptions and safety hazards. Moreover, Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujranwala, and Gujrat are also expected to receive heavy rain.
Additionally, there is a chance of rain in Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, and Faisalabad, among other regions, including Jhang, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Pakpattan and Sahiwal, with the possibility of hail accompanying the precipitation.
Most districts are expected to experience hailstorms along with rain, according to the spokesperson.
On the other hand, after a few days of rising mercury levels, a new spell of rain is set to fall in Lahore with intermittent rains to lash the city from tomorrow till April 31.
According to the Met Dept, heavy rains are expected in many parts of the country, after which, the temperature will also drop and the weather will beocme more pleasant.
In response to the forecast, authorities have directed the administration of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority to ensure proper drainage in low-lying areas to mitigate the risk of flooding. PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia has advised individuals to steer clear of electric poles and hanging wires during inclement weather.
Furthermore, citizens are urged to seek refuge in safe places to avoid exposure to lightning strikes, as highlighted by the DG PDMA.
