Bilawal Bhutto hails COAS Asim Munir’s meeting with US President as positive step
Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has welcomed the scheduled meeting between Field Marshal Asim Munir and US President Donald Trump, terming it a positive development in Pakistan-US relations.
In a statement shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Bilawal said, “Today, Field Marshal Asim Munir will meet US President Donald Trump over a luncheon — a strong signal of growing diplomatic and military ties between the two nations.”
Bilawal noted that the meeting is taking place at a crucial time when President Trump has taken a proactive role in mediating a ceasefire amid regional tensions. “This engagement reflects the recognition of Pakistan’s pivotal role in promoting peace and stability,” he said.
Referring to recent regional developments, Bilawal highlighted that Pakistan achieved a “decisive victory” against India during the recent five-day conflict. He criticized India for rejecting sustained peace efforts, including US-led diplomatic initiatives.
“India’s unwillingness to embrace permanent peace — despite active American diplomacy — is regrettable,” he added.
The PPP chairman expressed hope that today’s high-level engagement will further reinforce Pakistan’s strategic importance and pave the way for durable regional peace.
