The government was looking to achieve $25billion in the IT exports within the next five years.
According to details, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif presided over a review meeting on the affairs of the Ministry of IT, where measures to enhance IT exports and promote the digital economy were evaluated.
The participants expressed satisfaction with the steps taken to achieve $25 billion in IT exports within the next five years.
Officials briefed the meeting on plans to increase the number of freelancers from the current 1.4million to 2million within two years. The meeting was also informed the attendees that over 300,000 individuals would receive training through the digital skills programme by June 2025.
The progress on the national AI policy was also reviewed during the meeting. Officials stated that consultations were ongoing and that the policy would be presented for approval next month.
Moreover, the premier directed the authorities to simplify the right-of-way regulations further to facilitate the expansion of broadband services.
"Priority must be given to IT training for young people to secure employment opportunities abroad," said PM Shehbaz.
The prime minister urged the formulation of a comprehensive strategy for the effective marketing of Pakistan's IT sector.
"The IT infrastructure must be enhanced to increase national exports," PM Shehbaz maintained.
