Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar asked Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to account for the 2018 general elections, addressing the matter during a statement in Islamabad on Wednesday.
Dar emphasised his belief in reconciliation while pointing to several petitions filed against the 8 February elections, stating, "If objections exist regarding the 2024 general elections, the courts should decide. However, the accountability must begin with the 2018 elections."
He questioned the legitimacy of the 2018 results, saying, "Everyone knows who won and who was made to win that election."
Dar maintained: "The mandate for conducting elections in 2024 did not rest with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
He was of the view that the discussions on electoral integrity must address the events of 2018 first.
