Former provincial minister Sumsam Bukhari and his son have been booked in a case following an attack on Professor Dr. Anwarul Haq of the University of Okara.
The incident, which unfolded in front of the university gate on Monday, has prompted authorities to launch a thorough investigation into the matter.
According to reports from the police, Prof Dr Haq was shot at and injured by unidentified assailants riding in a car. The attackers swiftly fled the scene following the gunfire, leaving the professor wounded.
In response to the attack, a case has been registered against 10 individuals, including former provincial minister Sumsam Bukhari and his son Hassan Bukhari. The inclusion of prominent figures in the case underscores the gravity of the situation and the urgency with which authorities are treating it.

Reportedly, the Islamic Studies department professor was shot at after the unidentified culprits failed to kidnap him. Dr Haq was leaving the campus when unidentified suspects intercepted his car and attempted to kidnap him. On offering resistance, the culprits shot at and injured him, and escaped from the spot.
The injured professor was shifted to the DHQ hospital for treatment.
